Honda And Sony Announced To Build Electric Cars Together
After a series of talks Honda and Sony finally reached an agreement to form a joint venture to build electric cars together. The joint venture agreement has been formally signed between the two companies. The new venture has been named as 'Sony Honda Mobility inc'.
Yasuhide Mizuno who is the Honda executive has been named as the chairman and CEO of the new venture while executive vice president of Sony Izumi Kawanishi will be the president and COO of Sony Honda Mobility Inc.
According to the agreement Honda's role will be to contribute in cutting-edge environmental and safety technologies, car manufacturing technology, nobility development capabilities and service management experience.On the other hand Sony will help in aspects related to telecommunications, networking, sensors, and other entertainment related technologies.
Till date Honda has introduced only one electric vehicle named as Honda E.Reports suggest that Honda is now working very rapidly by partnering with other companies including GM to introduce more electric cars in near future. Last year Honda had announced that it will convert all its vehicle lineups to electric and fuel cell vehicles by 2040.For that purpose Honda will invest upto $40 billion and introduce 30 new e-cars till 2030.
Sony on the other hand has unveiled two electric cars named as Vision-S EV and Vision-S 02 electric vehicle.
More information about the working progress of the two companies would be available soon as till now only the formal procedure has been completed.
